Union forces used pictures of white slave children who had been freed in New Orleans as propaganda and to raise money for schools for freed slave children. The Louisiana Anthology has added two articles about these children and these pictures that appeared in Harper's Magazine, "Slave Children" and "White and Colored Slaves."
